This is easily done by removing the power to the furnace and removing the R or red wire from the circuit board of the furnace, and then placing a jumper between the R terminal and the W terminal on the circuit board. By placing this jumper between the R and W terminals, you are effectively removing the thermostat from the system, and eliminating it is a possible cause for the furnace break down.
